Thieves Target Long Beach Little League But Community Hits Back

After the West Long Beach Little League twice lost gear to thieves, the community answered the call for help.

LONG BEACH, CA — Twice in recent months the West Long Beach Little League was the victim of thieves breaking into baseball field storage containers to steal gear.

Last weekend, teams of 9, 10 and 11-year-olds that practice at Silverado Park lost their bases and pitching machine to thieves, according to West Long Beach Little League President Luis Terrazas. Before that, thieves stole an ATV from a storage facility at a storage unit at Hudson Park.

"These things are very valuable to our little league," Terrazas wrote in a GoFundMe page, calling for help replacing the pilfered items. "The pitching machine is used by our farm division every practice and game. The ATV is used to maintain the fields at Hudson Park."
