Thousands Lose Power In Long Beach
Metallic balloon causes 3,000 residents in Long Beach to lose power.

LONG BEACH, CA — Thousands of residents in Long Beach experienced power outages according to Southern California Edison.
The outage started at 2:25 p.m. and as many as 3,000 residents experienced their power shutting off and on again. According to officials, the cause of the outage was a metallic balloon hitting power lines in the area.
"Our troublemen are trying to get as many people's power back up as quickly as possible," SCE spokesperson David Song said.

Technicians in the area were able to reroute power, but 1,200 customers From East 4th Street to East Appleton Street are still experiencing outages.
The restoration process is still underway, according to Song, and there is no estimated time for when power should return for those affected.

"If customers could be patient with us, we're working as quickly as possible to get the power back up," Song said.
