Our first stop is LBJ’s Fine Foods off of Cherry Ave. One of the best restaurants to feed the soul, Southern style is the way to go. Chef Rita has been has been running the show for over 2 decades. She serves up everything Southern, including mac & cheese, fried chicken, fried catfish (which is a must-try) and stewed collard greens. This is not only one our favorites, but it’s also at the top of the list for the town of Long Beach. You have to check out LBJ’s Fine Foods at 6617 Cherry Ave. http://www.yelp.com/biz/lbjs-fine-foods-long-beach

Sura is by far our favorite Korean restaurant in Long Beach. For the longest time it was really the only Korean restaurant in Long Beach. The dol sot bibimbap and Korean BBQ tacos and burritos are a big favorite amongst the locals. Did we mention how delicious Sura’s bulgogi is? Try their bulgogi tacos and you’ll never want another taco! And to give this establishment a try, you don’t have to break the bank. Tuesdays and Thursdays they offer $1 tacos. What could beat that? Pay them a visit on 621 Atlantic Ave. http://www.surakbbq.com/
Michael’s Pizzeria
Michael’s Pizzeria is anything but basic. With two locations and a cool, modern atmosphere, this pizzeria has become one of the most popular spots for Long Beach locals to visit. Their Naples location has been rated #1 restaurant in Long Beach by Zagat, probably for their huge variety of unique, Napoli-style pizzas. From the margherita to the carbonara pizza, this place is fantastic! Some of our favorites include the Pistacchio E Stracciatella Pizze and the Prosciutto e Arugula PIzze. Check them out at 5616 E 2nd St. or 210 E 3rd St. http://www.michaelspizzeria.com/
James Republic
The owner of James Republic, Dean James Max, and his team are all about sustainability. They feature grass-fed beef, sustainable seafood and dishes full of delicious veggies. They also use materials that can be reused and recycled. For example, most of their desserts and appetizers are presented in reusable jars and they recycle all of their old menus. They team up with local farmers to ensure that the ingredients they use are as fresh as they come. This in truly one of those “can’t miss” restaurants in Long Beach. With a constantly changing menu, we can’t recommend a certain dish, but anything you try will be amazing. Oh, and go hungry because you have to try the dessert! Try their tasty menu at 500 E 1st St. http://jamesrepublic.com/
Simmzy’s
Mike Simms, owner of Simmzy’s, loves the atmosphere his restaurant provides Long Beach and we do too! Their Long Beach location is right off of the ever popular 2nd St. The lively atmosphere pulls people inside. You won’t be able to walk by without wanting to check this place out. Once inside, the delicious food keeps you there. With some of the best dishes in Long Beach, you can’t go wrong at Simmzy’s. Some of our favorite dishes include the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, the Bacon Blue Deluxe and the Apple Filled Donut for dessert. Check them out online or at their Long Beach location at 5271 E 2nd St. http://www.simmzys.com/
There’s never a shortage of great food in Long Beach! We love our town and are happy to support great local businesses. Enjoy your summer and visit some of these amazing restaurants while the weather is nice.
