Two People Displaced, One Cat Injured In Long Beach Brush Fire
A half-acre brush fire broke out along the 91 Freeway before it spread to a nearby home.
LONG BEACH, CA — A half-acre brush fire in Long Beach Wednesday spread to a nearby residence, displacing two adults and injuring a cat.
The fire was reported at 3:48 p.m. along the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway east of Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach Fire Department officials said.
Moderate winds pushed the flames to a home in the 200 block of 65th Street, fire officials said. There were downed power lines in the area.

Neighborhood children aided the cat, who suffered injuries and was in respiratory distress until firefighters arrived, officials said. The cat was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
