Warped Tour Attendee Dies After Long Beach Festival, Family Seeks Answers: Report

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police are investigating the death of a San Jose man who was hospitalized after attending the Vans Warped Tour, while his family searches for information about how he was injured.

The Long Beach Police Department was contacted July 29 about an individual in critical condition at a local hospital, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Police determined that the man had attended the July 26 portion of the two-day music festival and was taken to the hospital by a private medical company. Detectives learned July 31 that he had died.

The department said its preliminary investigation found no indication of foul play. Detectives are continuing to investigate whether a criminal incident occurred, while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The man was identified by his family as David Granado Jr. of San Jose, according to a verified GoFundMe fundraiser.

The fundraiser says Granado suffered what his relatives described as a “traumatic and ultimately fatal brain injury.” He underwent emergency surgery and remained on life support for several days, according to the family, which is still trying to determine what happened before he was hospitalized.

A Warped Tour representative told the Times that organizers were deeply saddened by Granado’s death and were cooperating with law enforcement. The representative also said organizers were attempting to gather any available footage connected to the incident.

The Vans Warped Tour was held July 25 and 26 at the Shoreline Waterfront. Organizers announced last week that the festival will return to Long Beach on July 24 and 25, 2027.
