Corvette Flies Off Freeway And Into Maserati Dealership In LA County

The blue Corvette came to rest on its right side after slamming into the Maserati of Puente Hills dealership.

INDUSTRY, CA — A Corvette driven over 100 mph flew off the Pomona (60) Freeway and flipped into a Maserati dealership early Wednesday, but the two people inside the muscle car were spared serious injury.

The crash was reported at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday on the eastbound freeway near the Azusa Avenue exit in Industry, California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

The blue Corvette came to rest on its right side after slamming into the Maserati of Puente Hills dealership, which was left with broken windows and a busted concrete light pole cracked at its base.

The wreck also damaged approximately 30 feet of chain link perimeter fence.

The driver and passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries, but did not require hospitalization, according to the CHP.

A preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the Corvette, Damian Cho of Chatsworth, was traveling westbound at speeds in excess of 100 mph, according to a CHP news release.

"As Cho was approaching slower moving vehicles, Cho veered to the left to avoid a crash, when he lost control, and the right side of the Corvette collided with a white BMW sedan," the agency said.

That sent the Corvette careening out of control across all westbound lanes before it collided with the perimeter chain link fence.

"The Corvette subsequently overturned multiple times and continued in a northerly direction where it collided into a concrete light pole subsequently crashing into the south side of the Maserati of Puente Hills dealership showroom building," according to the CHP.
