Firefighters Put Out Fire Inside Downtown Apartment Building

Sprinklers activated on the third floor near the fire, officials said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters put out a fire Saturday that burned contents in a unit in a six-story apartment building in the downtown area.

The fire was reported at 5:20 p.m. Saturday at 519 E. Seventh St., at San Pedro Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.

Sprinklers activated on the third floor near the fire, Lantz said.

Firefighters expected to remain on the scene for a while to remove smoke and water from the building, she said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
