It took firefighters one hour and 17 minutes to knock down the flames using large-diameter hose lines, she said.

The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital in fair condition. On Sunday, an LAFD public information officer told City News Service that the firefighter was doing well, but it was unknown if he had been released from the hospital. The nature of his injuries was not provided.

Fire companies remained at the scene overnight and used heavy machinery to move scrap piles and extinguish all hotspots, Lantz said. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power assisted with downed high voltage lines at the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
