BALDWIN PARK, CA — County authorities Monday released the names of two of the three people killed in a Baldwin Park shooting that may have been a double-murder-suicide.
The gunfire was reported about 5 a.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Millbury Avenue, near Bresse Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
A man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene, while a second man was taken to a hospital, where he also died, sheriff's officials said.
The sheriff's department confirmed that two of the victims were husband and wife — an 80-year-old man and 56-year-old woman, both Asian.
According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office, one of the decedents was Bich Lu, 56, whose manner and cause of death were listed as homicide from a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the dead men was identified by the medical examiner as Thaun Chung, 60, who was pronounced dead at a hospital. No cause or manner of death was listed for him.
The third person died at the scene but his name was withheld pending next of kin notification.
Neighbors told reporters that a relative of the slain married couple arrived at the shooting scene Friday and said another relative was the shooter.
The Sheriff's Homicide Bureau was assisting Baldwin Park police in the investigation.
The shooting marked the second fatal attack in a week in the area. Around 5 a.m. Saturday, a 15-year-old Ontario boy was fatally shot and two Baldwin Park men, aged 20 and 21, were critically injured in a shooting in the 12900 block of Bess Avenue.
Anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting was urged to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
