LOS ANGELES — A fiery and fatal crash closed Interstate 10 on Monday night in west Los Angeles, according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. A Sigalert was issued for the eastbound interstate west of Robertson Boulevard, with all lanes blocked and traffic diverted, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash involved two vehicles, one of which was ablaze when the fire department arrived, according to the agency.
One person died at the scene, a second was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and a third, whose condition was unknown, was detained by bystanders and taken to receive care, according to the fire department.
Drivers were instructed by the highway patrol to follow detour routes if traveling through the area.
