Today's riddle: Why did the weatherman's cheeks turn pink? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
1. Toddler Kidnapped By Woman Considered Armed And Dangerous: CHP Amber Alert (patch.com) — Los Angeles residents are being urged to watch for a 3-year-old boy reportedly abducted Thursday morning, prompting an Amber Alert issued by the California Highway Patrol for LAPD. Authorities say the child was taken in Los Angeles by a woman considered armed and dangerous, possibly driving a gray 2008 Pontiac G6, and ask anyone spotting them to call 911 immediately.
2. Alta Fire Breaks Out In Antelope Valley (patch.com) — Residents in northern Los Angeles County are facing evacuation warnings after the Alta Fire erupted Thursday afternoon in a rural area west of Lancaster near the Kern County line. The fast-growing brush fire expanded from about 30 to 350 acres within an hour, triggering shelter-in-place orders and warnings for communities between 280th Street West and 170th Street West.
3. Major CA Fast Food Chain Closures Loom, Bankruptcy Filing Shows (patch.com) — Los Angeles–area diners could soon see several Carl’s Jr. locations close as California’s largest franchisee works through Chapter 11 bankruptcy and seeks to reject leases at underperforming restaurants in Tarzana, Granada Hills, Reseda, Pasadena and more. The operator blames rising costs tied to the state’s $20 fast-food minimum wage and weakening sales, while some Southern California workers describe unsafe, understaffed conditions and tense encounters with customers.
4. Spencer Pratt claims homeless people have homes, but choose to be drug addicts (abc7.com) — A controversial Los Angeles mayoral candidate is drawing attention for claiming most people living on city streets are drug users choosing homelessness, while promising rapid, federally backed housing solutions on local land. He criticizes current spending under Mayor Karen Bass and vows to represent frustrated Angelenos, but offers few concrete details on how he’d work with the City Council or fund his ambitious plans.
5. Culver City man who worked in homeless outreach arrested on fentanyl charge (nbclosangeles.com) — Federal prosecutors say a former homeless-outreach worker from Culver City was stopped near MacArthur Park and later charged in Los Angeles federal court with possessing fentanyl and meth for distribution. Officers allegedly found drugs, cash, and packaging materials in his car, while his former employer PATH stresses he no longer worked there and denies operating syringe services in that area.
