Today's riddle: I went into the woods and found it. Once I'd found it, I searched for it. The harder I searched, the less I wanted it. When at last I couldn't find it, I carried it home in my hand. What is it? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
1. Bass Unveils City's First Capital Fund (labusinessjournal.com) — Los Angeles is launching its first-ever capital infrastructure program to better plan and deliver major projects, with a strong focus on upgrades for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The plan targets streets, sidewalks, parks, and access improvements around venues like Exposition Park, Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area, and UCLA, with many projects funded in the 2026–27 city budget.
2. Belize Immigrant With Manslaughter Conviction Listed On ICE Most Wanted Fugitive List (newsamericasnow.com) — Federal immigration officials say a man with prior manslaughter and robbery convictions was last known to be in Los Angeles and is now on ICE’s most wanted fugitives list. Authorities allege he re-entered the U.S. unlawfully and are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact ICE.
3. Amber Alert issued for missing 4-year-old girl in Los Angeles area (kesq.com) — An active Amber Alert is in effect for 4-year-old Daleza Fregoso, believed abducted in the Los Angeles area and possibly traveling in a white 2019 Land Rover Discovery with California plate 9DAW716. Authorities urge anyone who spots the vehicle or individuals to call 911 immediately as the search continues across Southern California.
4. Wealth Adviser Shuffle Hits Los Angeles (labusinessjournal.com) — Los Angeles wealth advisers are increasingly leaving big wirehouses for firms they feel offer better technology, support, and flexibility for clients. Recent high-profile moves in Beverly Hills, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Westwood, and Thousand Oaks highlight how consolidation, private equity, and culture shifts are reshaping how high-net-worth Angelenos’ money is managed.
5. Iran to commute to World Cup games from Mexico after US refusal, Sheinbaum says (taylorvilledailynews.com) — Los Angeles is set to host two of Iran’s World Cup group matches, with games against New Zealand on June 15 and Belgium on June 21, while Egypt awaits in Seattle. Because the U.S. declined to host Iran’s squad long-term, the team will instead base in Tijuana and commute into the U.S. for each match.
