LA Congressman Faces House Investigation Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations: Report

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Rep. Jimmy Gomez is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee over allegations of sexual misconduct, according to a report from CNN.

CNN reported the inquiry began after committee staff looked into a 2023 New York Post story that claimed Gomez was seen kissing a congressional aide outside a party. A spokesperson for Gomez denied the account at the time, calling it untrue.

According to CNN, investigators later learned of additional allegations that are now part of the committee's review. The investigation remains in its early stages, and the House Ethics Committee declined to comment.

CNN cited multiple unnamed sources familiar with the matter in its reporting.

In a statement provided to CNN, Gomez acknowledged making personal mistakes that caused pain to his family but said his actions were consensual and did not violate any laws or House ethics rules. He said he would cooperate fully with any Ethics Committee inquiry.

Gomez, a Democrat, represents California's 34th Congressional District, which includes downtown Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
