POMONA, CA — Pornographic images were discovered in some copies of the city of Pomona's summer recreation guide that were mailed to residents and officials suspect a "rogue actor" may be to blame, according to a report.

"The city of Pomona is aware that some copies of the recently mailed Recreation Guide may include inappropriate images that should not have appeared in a publication distributed to residents," city officials wrote in a statement Monday.

The images in question appear to be adult content advertisements that were somehow swapped out with the intended city content, Pomona Assistant City Manager Mark Gluba told the Los Angeles Daily News.

“Our Community Services Department coordinates the Recreation Guide and approval of the final proof. Per our vendor, US Printing, the errors did not originate from their print shop, thus the City is looking into the matter with the assumption that a rogue actor may have created and mailed the inappropriate material,” Gluba said.

Gluba told the newspaper Tuesday that the city is coordinating with Pomona police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service as the investigation moves forward.

Some, but not all, of the recreation guides had the material in them, Gluba said.

"We recognize this incident has damaged public trust and are committed to transparency as we review the issue and implement corrective actions," the city said in a statement.

A version of the recreation guide without the pornographic material is available here.
