Driver Injured When Car Slams Into Caltrans Truck On 5 Freeway

PACOIMA, CA — One person was injured Thursday when a sedan plowed into a Caltrans vehicle on the 5 Freeway in Pacoima.

The crash was reported on the northbound side of the freeway, north of the 118 Freeway, at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was taken to a hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, according to a department spokeswoman. No information was available about the patient's age, gender or disposition, she said.

Three northbound lanes were closed and traffic backed up to Terra Bella Street.

An additional lane was reopened just before noon Thursday, the CHP reported.
