LOS ANGELES, CA — A toddler was rushed to a hospital in critical condition Saturday, along with a woman who was also injured in a crash in South Los Angeles.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at 103rd and Alameda streets, Sgt. C. Gonzalez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Southeast Station told City News Service. That location is in the Florence-Firestone area, on the border between the city of Los Angeles and an unincorporated area of the county. As a result, the sheriff's department and California Highway Patrol were initially dispatched to the scene.

A vehicle was making a left turn onto westbound on 103rd from Alameda when it was T-boned by a vehicle that was southbound on Alameda, Gonzalez said.

The critically injured toddler was rushed to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Gonzalez said.

The child was a 2-year-old, NBC4 reported.

The injured woman suffered a broken femur and was also transported. Police did not say whether the two were in the same vehicle, and her relationship to the child -- if any -- was not disclosed.

It was also not immediately known which driver was at fault. There were no further descriptions of other involved parties.

The LAPD's South Traffic Division was investigating, Gonzalez said.
