The officers were responding to an assist-fire call when they entered the intersection and collided with two civilian vehicles, police said.

Cal Fire personnel and paramedics responded and provided medical aid to those involved. All of the occupants, including the officers, were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Authorities did not immediately release the extent of the injuries or the exact number of people involved.

The cause of the crash was not immediately available. The California Highway Patrol assumed the investigation, and the intersection was briefly closed.

Anyone with additional information about the crash is encouraged to contact the CHP Temecula office at 951-466-4300.
