LOS ANGELES, CA — Construction will impact traffic around Los Angeles International Airport in July as crews build a new pedestrian bridge.
Construction of the bridge, which will span Sepulveda Boulevard at Century Boulevard, will require overnight lane restrictions and closures on Sepulveda, Los Angeles World Airports announced.
July 13-17: Intermittent traffic breaks will be implemented on southbound Sepulveda Boulevard between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Traffic may be completely stopped for up to 20 minutes at a time between midnight and 4 a.m. on those days as crews work to install support beams for the bridge structure.
July 18-19: Northbound Sepulveda Boulevard will be fully closed between Century Boulevard and 98th Street from 1 a.m. July 18 to 4:30 a.m. July 19
Drivers were urged to allow extra time and use alternate routes. Traffic officers and flaggers will be stationed along detours.
LAX travelers should continue arriving at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights, officials said.
The work is part of a larger project to reconfigure 4.4 miles of roads around LAX, separate airport-bound traffic from neighborhood traffic and reduce congestion. More intermittent closures are expected as construction continues through 2030.
More information about the project is available here.
