BELLFLOWER, CA — A man has died after being shot by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy in Bellflower, authorities said Saturday.

It occurred at 9:06 p.m. Friday on the 10400 block of Artesia Boulevard as deputies responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon suspect who was reportedly armed with a firearm, the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported.

Deputies made contact with the suspect and the shooting occurred, authorities said.

The man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff's department.

No deputies were injured.

The shooting remains under investigation and no further details were released.
