City Hall East is a separate building from the main City Hall. The two are connected by a pedestrian walkway that spans Main Street.

One person — who was not exposed to the substance — was assessed and declined medical transport, according to the LAFD.

A Los Angeles Police Department hazmat team was expected to respond to the scene.

KTLA aired aerial footage of the scene, showing a single fire truck, along with several other vehicles, parked on Main Street.
