BURBANK, CA — Disney+ subscribers will soon be able to watch TikTok videos inspired by Disney movies and television shows under a new partnership between The Walt Disney Company and TikTok.

The companies announced Tuesday that curated, fan-created TikTok videos will be added to Verts, Disney+'s short-form video section. The program is expected to launch in the U.S. in the coming months, with additional markets planned later.

Participating creators who opt into the program will be able to have their videos appear on both TikTok and Disney+. The content will feature characters, scenes and stories from Disney brands including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and FX.

TikTok creators will also receive access to materials connected to hundreds of movies and series in Disney's library. The companies said the selection of videos on Disney+ will be refreshed regularly.

"This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire," Disney Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Asad Ayaz said in a statement.

Disney and TikTok also plan to launch a joint Disney Creator Ambassador Program. The tiered initiative will offer selected creators increased visibility, access to special events, professional development opportunities and other rewards.

TikTok said its users shared an average of 6.5 million film- and television-related posts each day last year. Nearly half of surveyed viewers said they later watched a movie or show after discovering entertainment-related content on TikTok, according to the company.

The companies did not announce a specific launch date or identify the creators who will participate in the initial rollout.
