Big Rig Fire Shuts Down 210 Freeway In Sunland, Spreads To Hillside

The fire broke out Wednesday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A big rig caught fire on the westbound 210 Freeway in Sunland Wednesday morning, spreading flames to a nearby hillside and forcing the closure of all westbound lanes, according to authorities.

The fire was reported shortly after 9 a.m. just east of Sunland Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. The big rig was not involved in a crash, the CHP said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded after the flames spread to brush on the hillside near the freeway.

All westbound lanes were closed, according to the CHP.

A SigAlert issued at 9:23 a.m. was expected to remain in effect for at least two hours.

There was no immediate word on what caused the truck fire or whether anyone was injured, KTLA reported.

By 10 a.m., the left lane of the westbound freeway had reopened. All other lanes remained closed.
