LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles customs officials found live insects in Tic Tac boxes shipped from Australia, according to authorities.
The discovery was made by agency agriculture specialists, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations said in a social media post Saturday, which included images of the Tic Tac containers and at least one insect.
"Plot twist: those weren't breath mints!" the post said, characterizing the situation as, "no permits, all pests."
The insects were seized and sent for identification, according to the agency.
