Suspect Ditches Stolen RV On Railroad Tracks During SGV Chase: Police

A suspect accused of stealing an RV fled on foot after the vehicle ended up on railroad tracks Wednesday morning, authorities said.

IRWINDALE, CA — A suspect accused of stealing an RV was arrested Wednesday morning after the vehicle crashed onto railroad tracks in Irwindale and the driver tried to escape on foot, authorities said.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were alerted at about 7:40 a.m. by the RV's owner, who told authorities he was following the stolen vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Department's Temple station.

The RV had reportedly been stolen from an unincorporated area near Arcadia.

As deputies moved in to stop the vehicle, the RV crashed onto railroad tracks near Irwindale Avenue and Huntington Drive, close to the 210 Freeway, authorities said.

The driver got out and ran but was quickly taken into custody.

The RV had been towing a trailer that became detached before the driver fled. The RV and trailer remained on the tracks at separate locations as of about 8 a.m., ABC 7 reported.

No additional details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the theft were immediately available.
