Two men suspected in the shooting were taken into custody, though their names have not been released, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting sent people scrambling for cover inside nearby restaurants and businesses.

KTLA reported that some witnesses initially mistook the gunfire for fireworks or a car backfiring before realizing shots were being fired.

Police shut down part of Sunset Boulevard during the investigation and cleared the scene around 11:05 p.m.
