LA Named No. 2 City In US For Vegans And Vegetarians

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles is the second-best U.S. city for vegans and vegetarians in 2026, according to a new WalletHub ranking.

The personal-finance company compared the nation's 100 largest cities across 17 measures of vegan- and vegetarian-friendliness, including restaurant options, grocery costs and access to farmers markets.

Los Angeles residents eat vegan and vegetarian food 187% more often than the national average, WalletHub said. The city also had the second-highest number of affordable, highly rated restaurants offering vegan and vegetarian options.

For people who prefer cooking at home, Los Angeles ranked fifth for farmers markets and ninth for organic farms, according to WalletHub. The city also ranked 11th for vegetarian cooking classes and 14th for vegan meetups.

WalletHub based its rankings on three broad categories: affordability; diversity, accessibility and quality; and vegetarian lifestyle.
