Pilot Killed In Catalina Medevac Crash Flew President's Marine One (patch.com) β Los Angeles County rescuers and ordinary bystanders rushed into the waters off Catalina Island after a REACH medical helicopter crashed shortly after takeoff, ultimately leaving three people dead and two survivors flown to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Authorities identified the victims, including a former Marine One pilot and a Catalina Island mother of three, while LA County fire, lifeguard and sheriff's dive teams led the extensive search and recovery effort.

Amber Alert issued for 3-year-old girl taken from South Los Angeles (cbsnews.com) β An Amber Alert is active after 3-year-old Marieny Calderon was reportedly abducted Saturday evening near South Avenue 49 and Figueroa Street in South Los Angeles. Authorities say she may be in a gray 2019 Toyota RAV4 with California plate 9ETY017 and urge anyone who spots the child or vehicle anywhere in Los Angeles to call 911 immediately.

Dodgers will continue going left with Blake Snell in Game 2 against Braves (statenews.net) β The Dodgers are sticking with left-handed pitching at Dodger Stadium, sending Blake Snell to start Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the Braves while saving ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto for Game 3. After Tarik Skubal's dominant Game 1 and a resurgent Los Angeles offense, the team hopes another lefty matchup will keep Atlanta's big bats in check.
