LOS ANGELES, CA — Early in-person voting for the Nov. 3 general election will begin Saturday at 123 vote centers across Los Angeles County, with hundreds of additional locations scheduled to open the following weekend, election officials announced.
The initial vote centers will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 2, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
Another 523 vote centers will open Oct. 31, bringing the countywide total to 646. All locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Voters can cast their ballots at any vote center in the county, regardless of where they live.
Los Angeles City Clerk Patrice Y. Lattimore encouraged residents to take advantage of early voting options, including voting by mail and using official ballot drop boxes.
"Voting early ensures your ballot is cast on Election Day," Lattimore said. "Whether returning your ballot by mail, drop box, or in person, we encourage all voters to make a plan to vote ahead and participate."
Vote-by-mail ballots were mailed beginning Oct. 1 to active registered voters, who can return them through the mail, deposit them in one of 429 official ballot drop boxes throughout the county or deliver them to an operating vote center.
Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Nov. 3. Election officials recommend mailing completed ballots at least seven days before Election Day to allow sufficient time for delivery. No postage is required.
Official ballot drop boxes will remain available until 8 p.m. Nov. 3.
Residents who missed the Oct. 19 voter registration deadline can still register and cast ballots through California's conditional voter registration process at participating vote centers.
The county also offers an interactive sample ballot that allows voters to make their selections in advance and generate a Poll Pass to use at a vote center.
Voters can also obtain a quick check-in code online or use the code printed on their mailed sample ballot or vote center postcard to speed up the check-in process.
The county provides translated election materials in 18 languages in addition to English, with telephone assistance available in 23 languages.
The Nov. 3 ballot includes contests for governor and other statewide offices, congressional and state legislative seats, local offices and state and local ballot measures.
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk will administer the election, while the Los Angeles City Clerk's Office handled candidate filing for municipal races.
The county will begin its official canvass Nov. 4, with election results scheduled to be certified Nov. 27.
