LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles County officials announced Thursday they are recruiting the county's first ethics compliance officer to establish and lead the new Office of Ethics Compliance.
The officer will report to and take direction from the county's new Ethics Commission. The officer will build and lead a team responsible for investigations, audits, training and policy, according to the county. The office will assist the commission in overseeing campaign finance, lobbying, conflict-of-interest and governmental ethics laws across the county's 39 departments, which serve more than 10 million residents.
The Ethics Commission and Office of Ethics Compliance were called for under Measure G, which county voters approved in November 2024.
The Board of Supervisors approved the framework for both entities in May following recommendations from the Governance Reform Task Force and input from the public.
The first members of the Ethics Commission were appointed in September, and its remaining seats are being filled.
Applicants should have progressively responsible experience in ethics compliance, public integrity oversight, investigations or regulatory enforcement, county officials said. Candidates also should have experience leading an ethics or compliance program or conducting complex investigations.
Experience working in a large public-sector organization and a master's degree or law degree are preferred.
The position has an annual salary range of $223,394 to $347,424. Relocation assistance is available.
Conselium Compliance Search is conducting the recruitment. The position will remain open until filled, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Officials said applicants should email a resume to Conselium Compliance Search partner Steve Harrison at steve@conselium.com and include "Ethics Compliance Officer — County of Los Angeles" in the subject line. Confidential inquiries also can be sent to the same address.
