Featuring Kiefer Sutherland and some of the biggest names in Red Dirt, outlaw country, and Americana, Texas Music Revolution drops viewers into the grit, swagger, and soul of one legendary Texas music gathering: Texas Music Revolution.

LOS ANGELES AREA SPECIAL EVENT SCREENING:

  • North Hollywood – Laemmle NoHo 7 – Monday, May 18, 2026 – TICKETS

Texas Music Revolution follows indie radio station KHYI-FM (95.3 The Range) general manager and festival founder Joshua Jones as he mounts the silver-anniversary edition of the eponymous festival. Set against the reemergence of live music in the wake of a pandemic, the film is both a love letter to Texas and an intimate portrait of a fiercely independent music scene.

At the crossroads of purist country and Americana, the festival has championed the now-iconic Red Dirt, Waylon-and-Willie-inspired sound widely regarded as one of the core pillars of American country music. For more than 25 years, KHYI’s commitment to independence has given a platform to this corner of the genre, while Texas Music Revolution has grown into one of the largest independent Americana festivals in the U.S.

In a volatile era where larger festivals have shuttered, Joshua and KHYI must double down to produce their grandest event yet.
