Starring in Yeon Sang-ho’s intimate suspense drama is Park Jeong-min, in his compelling portrayal of Dong-hwan and the younger version of his father, Yeong-gyu, in flashback sequences. Yeong-gyu, who cannot see, is a renowned wooden seal carver, respected for his intricate craftsmanship. Dong-hwan has no memory of his mother, who has been missing for 40 years—or so he’s been told—until he receives a startling call about her remains. Adapted from his own graphic novel, Yeon excavates the ugly aspects of societal standards and perceptions of beauty, and unapologetically exhibits the dark sides of human greed, desire, and trauma.
