Snow White, orphaned as a child, is forced to work under the reign of her evil stepmother, the Queen, who will stop at nothing to remain the most beautiful being in the land. When Snow White’s beauty grows, so does the Queen’s jealously. Seething with hatred, the Queen concocts a sinister plan to put an end to her. Will the princess escape her fate and achieve her happily ever after? Based on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, this first animated feature from The Walt Disney Company—and the first traditionally animated feature ever produced— was nominated for its original score; the following year, the Academy gave Disney a Special Award for the film (one full-sized Oscar and seven small ones), “recognized as a significant screen... innovation which has charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field for the motion picture cartoon.”
