Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin, 2011) directed Small Deaths (1996), an evocative look at key events in a girl’s life. Nikyatu Jusu’s Suicide by Sunlight (2019) tells of Black vampires in a near-future New York. In Maggie Kiley's Some Boys Don't Leave, a "Boy" is forced to come to terms with the fact that a "Girl" no longer wants him around. The problem is, he can't seem to leave their once-shared apartment.

Silent comedy star Mabel Normand directs herself and Charles Chaplin in Mabel’s Busy Day (1914). Two estranged friends are reunited for a difficult journey in Dominga Sotomayor Castillo’s La Montaña (2008). A mom (Anna Camp) must... cope with her daughter’s claim to be the reincarnation of Elvis Presley in Bonnie Kathleen Ryan’s comedy short GraceLand (2020). In Sonia Sebastián’s Yo también (2017), a young woman has to inform her romantic partners about her hepatitis diagnosis.
