Coco Queens, written by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author LaDarrion Williams and directed by Jessica E. Williams, will make its Los Angeles premiere at Outside In Theatre. Previews begin October 19, with opening night set for October 25. The limited engagement runs through November 17 at Outside In Theatre Artspace in Highland Park.

Set in a small Alabama town during the 1970s, Coco Queens follows four Black women whose lives have been forever shaped by love, loss, betrayal, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Inside Gloria's neighborhood beauty shop, a place where hair is done but souls are restored, generations of women gather for the annual Coco Queens Weekend, a sacred tradition of reflection, laughter, music, food, and healing passed down through the women who came before them.

As old wounds resurface and long-buried secrets come to light, the women are forced to confront colorism, ambition, motherhood, grief, and the cost of chasing dreams in a world determined to divide them. Guided by the enduring spirit of their beloved Girlie and the wisdom of their ancestors, they discover that true healing begins only when the truth is spoken aloud. Blending humor, heart, Southern spirituality, and the rich traditions of Black womanhood, Coco Queens is a moving celebration of resilience, forgiveness, and the women who teach us that even after unimaginable loss, there is always a way back to one another. A Southern story of sisterhood, survival, and the song that refuses to be silenced.
