405 Freeway Construction Fire Blazes In North OC

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — A construction fire on the nothbound side of the 405 Freeway prompted a SIG Alert both directions on the freeway at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Firefighters were sent to extinguish wood framing that caught fire, the CHP reported.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze as of 9:45 a.m., all southbound lanes had reopened, and the northbound carpool lane was open, but all other northbound lanes remained closed.

The cause has not yet been released.

SoCal Edison reported over 1,000 people in that area were without power as of 9:30 a.m., believed to be related to the fire. That power was restored later in the day.
