56-year-old Man Threatens Suicide by Drowning

Also in local crime calls, someone threw a potted plant at a vehicle window.

Editor's Note: The following crime calls were made to the Seal Beach Police Department and listed on the SBPD dispatch log. 

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • 05/31/2013 – 3:01 a.m. – 2nd Street – A woman said she thinks someone was inside her home while she was upstairs. She said she heard footsteps and a big crash. She also said that she was not expecting anyone at the time. No one was found on her property.

DISTURBANCE

  • 05/31/2013 – 4:15 a.m. – Emerald Cove Way –  A caller reported the driver or passenger of a dark vehicle, possibly a Nissan Sentra or Chrysler 300, threw a potted plant at a nearby vehicle’s window. The window did not break.

  • 05/31/2013 – 8:35 a.m. – Oakmont Rd. – A caller reported someone had stolen money. The caller later said he or she wasn’t sure of the loss and would try to talk to family members to “help sort this out.”

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

  • 05/31/2013 – 8:42 a.m. – Ocean Ave – A caller sai a 56-year-old man who couldn’t swim threatened suicide by drowning in the ocean. The caller said he thinks he might be at the Seal Beach pier, but the man wouldn’t tell the caller his location. Police arrived at Bolsa Chica Beach, but could not locate the person either at the pier or the beach. The call was transferred to Huntington Beach Police Department later who advised the family to call 911 if they locate the man.

LOBBY

  • 05/31/2013 –  1:51 p.m. – McKinney Way  –  A caller received harassing phone calls from a collection company, possibly related to automobile theft.
