HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — The Goodyear blimp has landed! Did you see it?
Friday, the iconic behemoth touched down on the Huntington Beach shore as part of the announcement of the upcoming 10th annual Pacific Air Show. It's been over 80 years since the blimp has attempted such a feat, according to the City of Huntington Beach.
Before it landed, it floated over the Huntington Beach Pier, as a spokesperson for Visit Huntington Beach said, "Only in Surf City, USA."
Surfers on the waves and volleyball tournament attendees paused to watch the spectacle early Friday morning.
On board the vessel, the city council joined Kevin Elliott from the Pacific Airshow with others. They all exited the cabin to announce the 2026 Airshow Lineup.
The show will take place from Oct. 2 through 4, 2026, with over 20 performers including: the USAF Thunderbirds, the USAF F-35A demo, USAF Heritage Flight, the Luke Czepiela Carbon Club Stol, Emma McDonald Extra 300L, Mike Goulian Extra 330 SC, USN F/A-18 West Coast Rhino Demo, the RAF Falcons Parachute Team from the United Kingdom, Franky Zapata Air Scooter and Flyboard, The USN F-35C Demo, Greg Coyler Ace Maker T-33, Jason Somes MIG-17, Mike Daniel Stol, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, Norad Demo, Torrey Ward Sobsonex Microjet, Bob Carlton Foxjet Sailplane, USN EA-18G Growler Airshow Team, Jeff Boerboon Extra 330SC and the Goodyear Blimp.
More acts will be announced soon, organizers say.
"And let's be honest… if you’re watching from outside the fence, you’re not really at Pacific Airshow," they added. "Inside the gates is where the beach shakes, the afterburners hit different, and the atmosphere goes to another level. Be Here For It."

This was the first time a blimp had landed on a Southern California beach since the 1940s in Santa Monica, according to organizers.
