SUNSET BEACH, CA — A third day of flooding triggered another Pacific Coast Highway closure in Sunset Beach Wednesday.
The closure came after floodwater spilled into the coastal beach town as another dangerously high tide hit the Southern California Coast.
The tide peaked at 10:22 a.m., sending water into the area near Park Street and PCH, according to authorities.
According to ABC7, in some of the deepest spots, the water rose to about shin and knee level.
Water covered roughly half of the stretch of PCH between Warner Avenue and Anderson Street — where the closure will be in place until around 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to the report.
Video posted to Facebook showed many residents attempting to navigate the deeper parts of the flooded areas on foot or by bike.
One resident even tried to cross the flooded Pacific Coast Highway with his two pups on a paddle board.
Connie McWhinney, 58, spoke to The Orange County Register while she was walking around flooded sections of Humboldt and Mistral drives with her dog.
"I've lived here since I was three and have never seen anything like this," she told the newspaper.
