Anaheim Ducks Fire Coach Bruce Boudreau

ANAHEIM, CA The Anaheim Ducks Fired Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, the team announced Friday.

The move comes just days after the Pacific Division leaders were eliminated from the playoffs in a Game 7 loss to Nashville. It was a rocky season for the Ducks, who started off the year with a long lasting losing streak but surged in the latter half of the season to regain their title as the perennial leaders of the Pacific Division. The playoff loss caps several years of disappointing playoff runs in which the team fails to win crucial Game 7s. Before the season started, many predicted the Ducks would be this year’s Stanley Cup champions.

Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray announced Friday the move Friday, promising to begin the search for a new head coach immediately.

“I would like to thank Bruce for his hard work and dedication to the franchise,”said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “This was a very difficult decision to make. Bruce is a good coach and character person, and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”

The Ducks coach since Nov. 30, 2011, Boudreau was a fan favorite amassing a spectacular regular season winning record of 208-104-40. Including his time with the Washington Capitals, Boudreau has an all-time head coaching record of 409-192-80.

“On behalf of the Ducks organization, we would like to express our appreciation to Bruce and his wife Crystal for their commitment to our community,” said Ducks Owners Henry and Susan Samueli. “Bruce led us to four division titles with tremendous passion and pride, and we will always be grateful for his contributions both on and off the ice.”
