Auto Shop Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation Up In Smoke: OCFA

Firefighters arrived at a Stanton commercial building to find an illegal pot shop set up in the back, officials say.

STANTON, CA — Early Monday morning, Orange County Fire Authority firefighters answered an emergency call of a burning automotive warehouse on the 8000 block of Katella Avenue.

Arriving engine crews soon discovered that there was more to this business than fixing cars. An illegal marijuana growth operation took up about "a quarter of the structure," Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Carrie Braun said.

The blaze centered at the rear of the building, according to OCFA Capt. Jon Muir. Crews made quick work of knocking down the fire.

It was then that they noticed the growth operation.
"A narcotics team was dispatched to the location to assist with the ongoing investigation," Braun said.

The source of the fire stemmed from "electrical issues," OCFA Capt. Jon Muir said, adding, "It was pretty elaborate."
