Bank Robbery Suspect Pursued Across North Orange County

A bank robbery suspect in a stolen car was pursued by area police from Beach Boulevard to the 405 Freeway, police said.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — California Highway Patrol and Orange County Sheriff's deputies were led on a half-hour chase from Stanton to Garden Grove on Monday, following the suspect of a bank robbery, but it was anti-theft technology that helped slow the fleeing suspect down, according to reports.

Early Monday morning, officers were called to a Stanton hotel on Beach Boulevard to investigate a stolen vehicle.

"Investigators linked the stolen vehicle to a bank robbery suspect," OCSD spokesperson Carrie Braun said. Surveillance was established, to wait for the suspect to return to the car.

A few hours later, officers followed the driver then attempted to pull him over.

"The suspect hit the gas and led deputies and CHP officers on a chase both on and off the San Diego (405) Freeway until about 9:50 a.m., when authorities were able to use the anti-theft technology to slow the vehicle down, Braun said.
