Boomer on the Loose
A recently-retired Baby Boomer observes what the world does all day while she's been teaching high school. "it's like being rich, but without the money," says Cheryl.
Editor’s Note: Please welcome our newest Patch Blogger Cheryl Clark. A retired Los Angeles high school teacher, Clark will share her adventures in retirement with readers in her colorful new blog “Boomer on the Loose.”
A couple of years before I retired, I started thinking I'd write a blog. I was always riled up about something, so I wanted to rant, or instruct, or express amazement at some new outrage. I didn't have time then, so I planned to blog like mad during retirement.
I've been retired a few years now, and somehow the blogging urge has left the building. Too happy, I think.

But--now that I've gotten over the initial thrill of getting up whenever I want, I guess I want to blog about what it's like to be a newly-retired Boomer.
I'm one of the older Boomers, so I'm used to being a trailblazer--getting ears pierced with a yarn needle, making a skirt out of blue jeans, getting my first birth control pills... Lots of 60's and '70's stuff.

So now I want to write about what it's like to be retired, and to be free in the daytime, and see what people do at 2 pm on a Tuesday. Or 11 pm on any week night. Stuff that doesn't entail sitting in front of a TV, either.
