The 2011-2012 Highlights of Los Al Schools – Continued

I’d like to Highlight Weaver and Oak. Weaver has already started its school year so let’s start with them and look quickly at a few of the great things they achieved last year.

Weaver:

• 103 -4^th and 5^th Graders were part of The Ambassador Leadership program.
• Had a successful 15^th year of MIND
• Veteran’s Day Celebration with over 60 veterans attended their Flag Ceremony
• Received Life Touch 3^rd place award for Best Yearbook in the Nation

This is just a small sample of what came out of the school that has the National Principal of the year.

Oak Middle School:

• 19 point increase in API – 911
• Mathematics proficiency up to 74%
• English/Language Arts proficiency up to 86%
• Both vocal and instrumental music programs won many awards, examples: Gold (top) ranking at Heritage Music Festival for Vocal Music – Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival for Jazz Band.
• Science Olympiad team members earned medals.

These are just a few of the highlights; I look forward to what wonderful thing they will accomplish this coming school year.
