WATCH: Wild Car Chase Ends With Pit Maneuver Off 91 Freeway

This 45 minute car chase across Orange County into Los Angeles County has ended with a pit maneuver on a 91 on-ramp.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — California Highway Patrol officers conducted a successful pit maneuver on a 91 freeway onramp ending a car chase that began in Orange County Tuesday morning. The driver led authorities from Santa Ana, across south west Los Angeles County roadways until the chase ended at the Clark Avenue Onramp to the 91 freeway. That roadway was shut down as of 11:20 a.m. when officers, including a K9 police officer, ultimately arrested the suspect.

The driver exited the vehicle with hands raised, gesturing wildly before he ultimately submitted to authority in a prone position. Officers then handcuffed the driver, who was alone inside the vehicle.

The possibly stolen 4-door Audi sedan initially drove away from a Santa Ana traffic stop on Tuesday, when the driver failed to yield at approximately 10:15 a.m., Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told Patch.

The driver then evaded police, and reversed course several times during the chase. At least one other person was inside the car at the time the chase started.

"The chase began with a car stop, with paper plates," Bertagna said. "One passenger jumped out at Dyer and the 55 Freeway. That suspect is still being sought."

The driver has crossed multiple freeways, from the 55, 5 to the 405 freeways and as crossed multiple counties before heading onto city streets. As of 11 a.m., the suspect reversed his northward direction and was headed back toward Orange County.
