Cat Saved In Seal Beach House Fire

A missing cat was located following a structure fire in Seal Beach. OCFA thanked by homeowner.

SEAL BEACH, CA - Orange County Fire Authority made quick work of an afternoon fire in Seal Beach on Tuesday.

In the early afternoon, a house fire was reported in the 240 block of 5th Street in the city of Seal Beach, OCFA Captain Larry Kurtz reported.

"OCFA had a quick knockdown of the structure fire," he said.

The fire was contained to first floor, centered in the laundry room of that home.

Investigators are looking at the dryer as the potential origin of that fire according to Kurtz. Investigators gave an estimated $50,000 in contents and $150,000 in loss to the structure.

One cat was rescued during the blaze, and returned to the grateful homeowner, Kurtz said.
