Democratic Party Leader Jeff LeTourneau Resigns Amid Criticism
Jeff LeTourneau resigned his leadership role with the party after backlash for praising Ho Chi Minh, the late communist leader of Vietnam.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA ā A pro-Ho Chi Minh message led to the end of Jeff LeTourneau's leadership with the Orange County Democratic Party.
LeTourneau was criticized for sharing a pro-Minh message over his Facebook page, Sunday. The post he shared stated that Minh liberated a poor, colonized nation from two powerful military forces. The negative feedback he received was instant. As the Voice of OC reported, his resharing of the post sent Little Saigon into an uproar.
The post was deleted, but his critics did not dismiss the sentiment.

Supporters of LeTourneau say Republicans were returning to McCarthyism, and a "return to Cold War-era tactics."
He apologized for his post Monday night, though leaders didn't feel the apology worked to resolve the rift he created. According to the Orange County Register, though he has stepped down, he remains a central committee member, representing the 55th Assembly District.

Though LeTourneau told Voice of OC that his share of the post was meant to say, "don't let anyone tell you you can't be a leader, that leaders come in all shapes and sizes," his critics did not receive that message.
Janet Nguyen, Republican State Assembly Candidate, spoke on his resignation, saying that his resignation was not enough.
"It's outrageous that the Democratic Party of Orange County has decided to continue to allow Jeff LeTourneau to make decisions on behalf of the party," she wrote on Facebook. "We continue to demand a full resignation, so he has no influential power in decisions that affect our community."
