Dozing OC Truck Driver Causes Dramatic Crash: Cops
A Santa Ana towtruck driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing a multiple-vehicle collision and injuring at least six, cops say.

SANTA ANA, CA — Morning traffic in Santa Ana came to a standstill as officers responded to a multiple injury collision. At 8 a.m. Monday, a tow truck driver in the area of 1100 N. Flower dozed off at the wheel and collided into multiple vehicles, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told Patch.
"Officers are investigating a major traffic collision at the 1100 Block North Flower," Bertagna said. "The tow truck driver fell asleep causing a 5 car collision."
The collision with the flatbed truck and a minivan, followed with a chain reaction crash that involved a gold Nissan Quest, a tan minivan and silver sedan, as well as a silver Kia Soul, according to reports from the scene.

Emergency vehicles responded, and were still on scene as of 10:30 a.m. Six people were injured and transported to hospital including a 7 year old child, he said. All of the injured were reported in stable condition.
At the time of this report it was unclear if alcohol or drugs were considered a factor in this collision.
