Ducks to Hold Beach Party at Newport Pier Saturday to Start Playoff Push

The Beach party will kick off their "Paint It Orange" Stanley Cup playoff campaign.

The Anaheim Ducks will hold a beach party at the Newport Pier Sunday to mark the start of their “Paint It Orange” campaign for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The party will be held from noon-3 p.m. and include a playoff-themed photo opportunity; “Paint It Orange” sand sculpture; DJ JoMaestro; and appearances by team mascot Wild Wing, the Power Players, who sweep the ice during stoppages in play and support the event presentation in other ways, Ducks alumni and broadcasters.

There will also be drawings for prizes and other playoff-themed items.

The Paint It Orange campaign will also include the wrapping of the Discovery Cube Science Center with a “Let’s Go Ducks” banner on Monday; a “Car Flag Rally” from noon-1:30 p.m. at Honda Center where fans paying $5 per flag will get their flag personally place on their car by former Ducks right wing George Parros; and the placing of a “Paint It Orange Fountain” outside the Edwards Irvine Spectrum Theatre.

The Ducks will open the playoffs Wednesday or Thursday at Honda Center against the Minnesota Wild or Winnipeg Jets.
