SEAL BEACH, CA —A beach hazards statement was in effect from Midnight, Tuesday through late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Waves were expected from 4- to 7-feet in height, increasing early Wednesday and peaking during the day. The surf was expected to decrease Wednesday night.

Swimming conditions at all west facing beaches would be hazardous, due to dangerous rip currents, they said.

All who are near the shore should expect strong rip currents, elevated surf height, minor tidal overflow, and if you hear thunder, there could also be lightning.

"Obey posted warning signs and flags, and talk to a lifeguard before swimming," they said. "Use caution when in or near the water, and always swim near a lifeguard."
