“EXTREME MPG”: MITSUBISHI MOTORS NORTH AMERICA HOSTS EXCITING COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTING FUEL EFFICIENCY OF 2014 MIRAGE
The term motorsports usually styles a race for speed, where vehicles compete against one another to reach the finish line. Given it is the 21st Century, Mitsubishi Motors North America has decided to give a new meaning by introducing the concept of environmentally-conscious driving by putting on a “race” to see who can achieve the best fuel economy over a designated distance.
The event, titled Extreme MPG: The Hypermiling Challenge, chooses three skilled drivers as they pilot the fuel-efficient 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage across 275 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Cypress, California, to see who guzzles the least amount of fuel. Mitsubishi Motors North America will make a contribution in the winner’s name to the charity of his or her choice. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers will honor a check of $500 each to the selected charity.
The contestants are: Mike Austin from Popular Mechanics, Aaron Gold, automotive editor for about.com and Joni Gray, the current president of the Motor Press Guild.
